84-plus gowns later...with more on the way
“More than 30 volunteers responded to our request for help to sew 100-plus gowns,” Jason Cox of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, told this Icon this week.
“ Soon after the announcement a small group of people were able to cut gowns at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church, he added.
The gown pieces were assembled into kits and distributed for others to sew at their homes. MHCO has received 84 completed gowns and more are coming in each day.
“These washable gowns will allow MHCO to reduce the need for disposable PPE which we were having a hard time finding due to the demand,” said Cox.
Gowns are an important part of a caregiver’s protective equipment for oneself and also for other community members. “We no longer are worried about running out of gowns,” he added.
The gowns are color coordinated by size: Yellow – Large, Blue – medium and Green – small, which helps people know at a glance the right one to wear.
“We thankful for the generous volunteer support from area churches and community members in sewing gowns,” said Cox.
