Young girls invited to be princess for a day at BFR - A special day for girls ages 4 to 8 years is planned on Wednesday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.

The Princess for a Day program will feature games, crafts and cheers in the morning, followed by a "formal" lunch. Girls will have their hair and nails done and then dress for a tea party in the afternoon.

Cost for the event is $40 ($25 BFR members). Advance registration is required by noonon Monday, July 25 by calling BFR Sports & Fitness 419-358-4150.

Sculpting a beautiful building

The $14 million Bluffton University Health and Fitness Center project is underway.

Sorry about that. We didn't mean to mess up your day. You know, no Icon on the internet Tuesday morning.

Fact is we are making some changes - for the better - and like that interstate in Los Angeles, felt it was easier to take the Icon off line while improvements were made.

We took The Icon off line on Monday evening, hoping to be live first thing Tuesday morning. You know how that works. It was more like noon on Tuesday and you probably still see some glitches.

Never fear. These will go away and we will soon share with you several new pieces in the works.

Instead of Bluffton Child Development Center students going to the farm, the farm came to them last week. Members of the Bluffton 4-H Cattle Club visited the Center and shared some of their animals with the children, according to Mary Painter, Center director.

"Our kids had so many questions to ask and the members of the club were very willing to answer them," said Painter. "It was truly an on-hands experience that some children may never have access to."

Katie Nelson and Scott Troyer's summer tour will include a Bluffton concert at 7 p.m., Saturday Aug. 6, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.

Donations are accepted at the door.

According to Wendy Chappell-Dick of the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, "Katie Nelson and Scott Troyer claim the road as their home. Touring throughout the U.S. they play for audiences at a variety of venues like conferences, pubs, schools, churches, caf'es, prisons, theaters and homes."

Do you like seeing different places and looking at objects of interest? Then Bluffton Public Library's Photo Exhibit is for you.

The library will be hosting an exhibit of all photographs entered into its Novel Destinations Photo Contest on Saturday, Aug. 6. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Richland Room of the library.
