New features: Friday preschool camp; lunch from Bluffton Hospital on M-W-F

Bluffton Family Recreation announces its summer camp program schedule, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director. Registration is now available by calling BFR at 419-358-4150.

This year's camp has several new features:
• a preschool camp offered one day each week for children 3 to 6
• Bluffton Hospital will provide campers lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday

Kid's Night Out, soccer camp, VB clinic; and for adults lots of tournaments and league play

Bluffton Family Recreation offers an assortment of programs for youth through adults in April and May, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director. Many of these programs extend into the summer.

Among programming for youth is a Kid’s Night Out on Saturday, May 4, in coordination with the Bluffton Athletic Boosters reverse raffle.

Amanda Outland, a Bluffton University senior, double-majoring in business and sports management, is a Bluffton Family Recreation intern this spring.

At BFR she coordinated and oversaw the 4th grade boys’ and girls’ basketball leagues and the 3rd and 4th grade volleyball league. She also coached the volleyball league.

The Toledo Start High School graduate was a middle hitter on the Bluffton University volleyball  team. In high school she played varsity softball and played on a club broomball team.

For flag football, U6 soccer, 3-4th grade volleyball

The deadline is approaching to register for several youth programs Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

Sign-up deadline for flag football, U6 soccer, and 3rd and 4th grade volleyball leagues is Sunday, March 17. After that registrations will be accepted with a $10 late fee and it cannot be guaranteed that t-shirts/jerseys will be available at the same time as the others. 

Spring activities for adults at BFR

Sign-up for several spring adult activities is underway at Bluffton Family Recreation this month, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

Spring Adult Volleyball
Competition includes five weeks of league play, from Thursday, April 4, to Thursday, May 9, followed by a tournament. Each team must have three female players on the court at a time. Registration fee is $150 per team with a $50 deposit to reserve a spot.

BFR fundraiser at The Centre April 5; get your tickets now

Tickets are now on sale for a Bluffton Family Recreation repeat performance of “Dueling for Dumbbells,” which takes place from 6 to 11:30 p.m., Friday, April 5, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton.

The evening is a casual night of live entertainment to benefit BFR, featuring hors doeuvres, snacks and an open bar starting at 6 p.m. Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director, promises that this year’s hors doeuvres will be "out of this world."

Dueling Pianos International will perform starting at 7:30 p.m.
