•  Often overlooked, hydration is a key component in maintaining soft tissue health. Staying hydrated keeps the tissues pliable and more resilient to external factors. It also improves the quality of the fluid in your joints.

Sleep
• Sleep is vital in allowing our bodies to recover and regenerate tissue and a lack of sleep adversely affects soft tissue health.

Bluffton Family Recreation announces its New Year’s weekend hours.

• Thursday, Dec. 31 – open 8 a.m. to noon
• Friday, Jan. 1 – closed
• Saturday, Jan. 2 – open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It provides the entire winter programming schedule for BFR, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting soccer teams for Dec. 19-20 indoor tournament.

A high school division tournament is Saturday, Dec. 19, with the first game at 9 a.m.

An adult division tournament is Sunday, Dec. 20, with the first game at 1:30 p.m.

Games are 25 minutes each with a maximum of eight teams per division. The registration fee is $75 per team.

Bluffton Family Recreation has launched its 2016 annual campaign, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

The campaign’s goal of $60,000 will assist BFR in upgrading its existing programs, fitness center and sports services.

“BFR continues to reinvent itself by adding new and upgrading our existing programs, in addition to providing the community with a fitness center and sports services,” he said.

He noted several programs in 2016 that benefit the community.

Bluffton Family Recreation offers two performance-training programs of eight sessions each in December lead by Jared Krout, BFR sports coordinator.

A Developmental Program, for youth ages 12 to 14, offers an introduction to performance training and adds a sport-specific component. Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 1 to Dec. 24.

A Prep Program, for youth ages 15 to 18, offers a high-performance training program covering all aspects of athletic performance. Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Dec. 1 to Dec. 24.
