Bluffton Family YMCA

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Bluffton Fall Festival, Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

Visitors will have an opportunity to meet the BFR staff, tour the facility and watch demonstrations of exercise equipment.

In addition, a craft home expo will take place in the basketball area. To be part of the expo, contact BFR at 419-358-4150.

Membership discounts for new members will be offered during open house hours.

Area fifth and sixth grade girls are tuning up their volleyball skills this week. Bluffton Family Recreation holds a three-day camp. The camp is for youth who plan to play on a school team. 

 

Bluffton Family Recreation announces Art Explorer Camp registration is now underway.

The two-day camp is for youth from Kindergarten through third grade. 

The camp is held Thursday and Friday, Aug. 6-7 from 9 a.m. to noon at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

Campers will make at least five art projects to take home. Also each day will include a snack and drink. Cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members.

Youth flag football league signup is underway at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Play is from Aug. 29 through Oct. 9. Registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 14, and the cost to play is $55. Players will receive flags and an NFL jersey once they are registered through USA Football.

The league is sponsored by Patriot Concrete of Bluffton. There will be multiple divisions for boys and girls ages 5 to 14. All games are played on Saturdays.

Bluffton Family Recreation is now offering classes twice a week through the Healthway SilverSneakers Fitness Program, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

“The program is for older adults and involves regular physical activity,” said Beagle. “Each class session lasts between 45 and 60 minutes held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:45 a.m. at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.”

The Wednesday class is a new option in the program.

The sessions not only force movement, but also help participants who have joint pain and arthritis issues.
