Bluffton Family Recreation offers two performance-training programs of eight sessions each in December lead by Jared Krout, BFR sports coordinator.
A Developmental Program, for youth ages 12 to 14, offers an introduction to performance training and adds a sport-specific component. Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 1 to Dec. 24.
Bluffton Family Recreation will offer 4th grade boys and girls developmental basketball leagues this winter, according to Joseph Beagle, director.
The leagues will play in separate boys and girls divisions on Saturdays from Jan. 9, 2016, to Feb. 13, 2016. Times are subject to change.
Registration is $250 per team. Registration takes place through Dec. 31. Persons wanting more details may contact BFR at 419-358-4150. All games will be played at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
Bluffton Family Recreation is accepting team registrations for its sixth grade boys’ and girls’ tip-off basketball tournament held in December, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
Boys’ division games are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. Girls’ division games are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 13. All games are played at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
Registration fee is $300 per team and registrations are accepted until Nov. 30.
After 18 years and who-knows-how-many soccer matches, Bluffton Family Recreation says that it’s time to replace the original turf on its indoor soccer field.

The replacement won’t be cheap. According to Joseph Beagle, BFR director, a much-needed turf replacement will cost $50,000.
“Turfs like ours have a lifetime of from 9 to 12 years. Ours is nearly twice that old,” he said.
