There's lots going on at the Bluffton Public Library in October. Here's a printer-friendly copy of the October events calendar.

Saturday, Oct. 8, at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve, rural Pandora

Bluffton Public Library wants its patrons to take a hike - and the library staff means it.

Actually, it's a guide hike. It's at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve, 14321 Road 7L, Pandora. A rain date is Oct. 22.

The family-friendly event will include an approximately one-hour guided hike on the preserve.

Persons attending can visit farm animals, and will be followed by refreshments at the shelterhouse, courtesy of The Quarry Farm.

Take a photo, post it, tag it and watch it go!

The Bluffton Public Library staff enjoys seeing its patrons having fun.

The staff created yet another way to have fun. It's called Friday Photo Challenge.

Here's how it works:

Patrons may participate every Friday in October for a photo finish of the week.
1 - Take a photo
2 -post it on your social media profiles, and
3 - tag the library's profile, #weheartbluffton, and #fridayphoto.

If you don't have a photo-capable phone the staff will snap a picture of you to share directly to the library's social media.

Paws 2 Read, dulcimers, chill zone, tutor me paperless, adult book discussion, storytimes, the list is endless

Come “Paws 2 Read” with Teddy the therapy dog on Saturdays, Oct. 1 and 15, at 10 a.m.  Teddy loves hearing stories or just getting a friendly cuddle. This program supports literacy, the humane treatment of animals, and healthy stress relief practices. No registration required.

Alice Essinger is the winner of the second annual Adult Spelling Bee held recently by the Bluffton Public Library.

Runners-up were Gail Clingerman, Arlene Garmatter and Paula Scott.

The contestants helped raise money for children’s programs, and in doing so, supported early literacy in Bluffton and its surrounding area.

Next year's spelling bee will include a family theme.
