The Bluffton University men's golf team fired a 321 en route to its best finish since the return of the program in 2017.

 Bluffton dropped nearly 20 strokes from it's season opening round at Tiffin just six days ago. 

Senior Takoda Pratt (Shelby) led the way with a sparkling 76 which was tied for 7th at the Legacy Golf Club. Also checking in under 80 was junior Spencer Daniels (Ashland) who shot a 79 on Wednesday.

Her 88 gives Oberdorf three of the top four 18-hole scores in school history

The Bluffton University women enjoyed their first competition since hosting the Heartland Conference championships at the Bluffton Golf Club on Oct. 13, 2019.

After a nearly 11-month sabbatical, the Beavers put together a 378 at the Legacy Golf Club on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Junior Brylee Oberdorf (Green Springs/Clyde) led the way with an 88 which tied her for 7th out of 41 golfers on Tuesday. Her 88 gives Oberdorf three of the top four 18-hole scores in school history.

Natilee Grover ’21, a Bible and theology major from Dayton, describes the search for her perfect major as a “rollercoaster ride.”

And while she can imagine herself in 50 different vocations, she is prepared for whatever the future holds.

“I feel very at peace with where I could possibly go on my career path,” explained Grover. “Mostly, I would like to have a career that takes me in a direction where I am spreading a reflection of love and empathy to others.”

“There is some evidence from the 1918 pandemic that the places that had more efforts to shut down controlled the virus better. They also recovered from an economic standpoint more rapidly.”

Dr. Jonathan Andreas, Howard Raid professor of business and professor of economics, provided insight into the economic collapse and emerging, yet still uncertain, rebound of the last six months during Bluffton University’s first Colloquium presentation of the year titled, “The Economics of COVID.”

Using unemployment data, polls from economists and graphs charting changes in GDP, Andreas wove together a picture of a recession that evolved more quickly than one ever experienced in the United States. 

The Bluffton University men's golf team had the honors as the Beavers were the first team to compete since the baseball and softball teams played their spring games in Florida during the fopening week of March.

Following a worldwide shutdown due to COVID-19, the Bluffton men were excited to get back to work when they traveled to the Mohawk Golf and Country Club on a beautiful Thursday, Sept. 3.
