Book Reviews offering 2 p.m. Saturday story time

Book Reviews, South Main Street, Bluffton, is offering a story time for children ages 4 – 6 (or for anyone who can sit still for about 20 minutes and likes children’s books) at 2 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 17, according to Paul Unrau.

Each child will receive a free book and a BRV bookmark. Please call to sign up since space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Youth tennis camp and lessons offered this summer

BFR Sports and Fitness will hold a three-day, mini-camp for basic skills on June 3, 4 and 5.  Youth ages 7 to 12 years are invited to learn backhand, forehand, net blocks and serves as part of the camp.   

During each 1 1/2 hour session, youth will work on stroke development and learn about court positioning. The camp will be held indoors at BFR. Cost for the camp is $45 ($30 BFR member); deadline to register is Friday, May 31.

Things get Epic at Shannon Theatre this week

Epic (PG) begins showing at the Shannon Theatre on Friday, May 24 and running through Thursday, May 31.

The animated movie is based on William Joyce's childrens book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs.

Showtimes are nightly at 7 p,m and 9 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 p.m and 4 p.m.

All shows are 2D. 

Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn flavor of the month for May is Caramel Nut Cluster.

Camp for children who love to sing returns to Ada this summer; registration underway

The camp for children who love to sing returns to Ada this summer.

Summer Sounds Choral Festival is a half-day day choral experience for rising 2nd through 9th graders where they learn choral repertoire and performance techniques, develop their musical skills through movement and music games, and have special classes with Orff-Schulwerk instruments. Camp dates are Aug. 5 to Aug. 9.

Experienced music teachers teach all classes and are assisted by ONU music majors and local, talented youth.

Nine music recitals this month by Krysti's Music Studio students

How about a little night music? Or, late afternoon music?

"Our spring music recitals start this Friday," said Krysti Schey of Krysti's Music Studio, Bluffton. "The recitals will showcase our student’s hard work and progress over the past few months."  

Friends and family wanting to show their support as well as anyone else interested in watching the students perform are welcome to come.

Hardin Leadership II 7th annual Buggy Ride bike tour May 18

Hardin Leadership II is offering different routes this year for their 7th annual Buggy Ride — a bicycle tour in the Amish countryside of Hardin County.

The routes begin and end at McCullough Industries on County Road 175 in Kenton.  They are designed to provide families and individuals with a low traffic ride in the country. Bike routes begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, for the distance riders —those traveling 60 miles throughout the Hardin County.
