Just when you thought nothing is going on in this small town, think again.
The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has compiled a list of several Bluffton fall events. And, this is by no means the complete list.
Some of these are chamber sponsored, other chamber supported, while others are for information purposes. Watch the Icon for more details on all these events, and in the meantime, add the ones of interest to your calendar.
It's Allen County Fair week. This year's fair runs from Friday, Aug. 16, through Saturday, Aug. 24.
While the fair for some means rides, food and entertainment, for many Bluffton youth the fair means entering junior fair competition. For many Bluffton adults, it means entering open class competitions.
The fair offers several other activities including a demolition derby, cheerleading competition, harness racing, antique tractor pull, band showcase, baton and flag corp competition, truck, tractor and semi sled pull.
The Bluffton High School marching band will offer a free show to the public at 6 p.m., Friday, on the Harmon Field practice field, according to Dave Sycks, director.
From there, the band will go to the Allen County Fair and will perform in the band show at the grandstand.
The list of activities planned for Bluffton’s 10th annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28, continues to expand.
Eight community groups will host a “Sowing and Reaping: Celebrating good food from the earth,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with events going on at the Bluffton Farmers’ Market and at First Mennonite Church.
The sponsoring groups are First Mennonite Church, Bluffton Farmers’ Market, The Food Store, Bluffton University, Citizens National Bank, The Dough Hook, Jeanne's Kitchen and Community Market.
