Area businesses have the opportunity to participate in two November events sponsored by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce. Each benefits businesses in different ways at a very economical cost. Both events have table space available for businesses - similar to the showcase events at Bluffton University in September.
Business network event - Thursday, Nov. 18
The chamber invites businesses and their employees to a free "After Hours" networking mixer from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St.
The Bluffton Farmers' Market will open one final time in 2010. The final date is Saturday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The market is located in the Citizens National Bank parking lot. The market will open again in May 2011.
The elementary and middle school lunch menu for November was recently released. It may be viewed by opening the attachment at the bottom of this story.
Trick-or-treating in the village of Bluffton is from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 28. Halloweeners wanting their photos on The Blufton Icon may stop at 226 Grove St., between 6 and 7 p.m.
Bluffton Icon viewers get their chance to vote on the name of the Bluffton Sportmen's Club number number 1 tagged trout for 2011. Tom Augsburger and Ryan Matter of the club, invited The Icon to create a poll for viewers to pick the trout's name.
The trout derby is the first Sunday of May. Next year's derby will celebrate Bluffton's 150th anniversary.
Three possible names were selected by club members as the number 1 trout.
Bluffton residents should expect high winds up to 50 to 60 miles per hours and heavy thundershowers between noon and 3 p.m., according to AEP.
Wide-spread high winds and severe thunderstorms will hit the AEP East Utilities today. A major storm over Minnesota rapidly intensified during the overnight hours. The strong cold front associated with the storm has already produced wind gusts of 45-55 mph with isolated gusts to 75 mph in severe thunderstorms across Missouri and Illinois.
