Deandre Nassar moves on to the state meet quarterfinals Friday

Junior Deandre Nassar will look to join a long list of Bluffton High wrestlers who have placed, and won, state titles.  Nassar opened his State Meet run Thursday afternoon against Ashland Crestview’s Colton Campbell, winning a 10-4 decision.  Nassar advances with a record of 39-1 on the season.

27 Bluffton swimmers

To compete at Northwest Ohio YMCA-League Championships

On Saturday and Sunday, March 10-11, the Bluffton area will have 27 swimmers competing at the Northwest Ohio YMCA-League Championships at Bowling Green State University. They will compete with more than 800 swimmers from the Northwest Ohio league that includes 18 teams from lower Michigan and northwest Ohio.

All of these swimmers are on the Bluffton Sardines summer swim team, but for winter swim, they swim with the Lima YMCA Barracuda Team or the Putnam County YMCA.

BHS wrestler Deandre Nassar advances to state wrestling meet second year in a row

Junior Deandre Nassar won the 195 class and advanced to the State Wrestling Meet for the second year in a row.  

The junior won by pin and 13-5 decision Friday. Seeded first in the class, Deandre won his semifinal match again by 13-5 score and then turned a late pin in the finals with just 17 seconds left to win the championship.

Three BHS players on all-NWC list

Three Bluffton HS basketball players received all-NWC honors. They are Kaleb Jefferson (2nd Team) and Sophomores Jared Piercefield and Mason Soper (both Honorable Mention). More at www.blufftonpirates.com

Five Pirate wrestlers advance to district

 Five Bluffton Pirate wrestlers advanced to the OHSAA District Wrestling Meet after finishing in the top four of their individual weight classes at the Lima Central Catholic Sectional Meet.  (more at www.blufftonpirates.com)

Boys' bball: Pirates bow out of tourney

A game that started very well for the Bluffton boy’s basketball team slipped away in the third quarter and the deficit was too large to overcome.  Paulding dealt Bluffton a 42-35 defeat in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament Tuesday evening to end the Pirate season at 10-13.  The game was the final one for seniors Kaleb Jefferson, Dakota Bricker, Joel Piercefield and Cole Fruchey.
