Sardines make waves at WOAL meet

3rd overall, Sportsmanship Award winner, 1st place boys' 6 and under, 1st place girls' 6 and under

Bluffton swim team finished an impressive third place in the July 14-15 Western Ohio Aquatics League meet in Kenton.

It was the highest finish ever for a Bluffton team in the WOAL. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished third, as did the combined Bluffton squad.

Registration is underway for players wanting to be on the Bluffton Buccaneers midget football team this fall, according to Zac Kohli.

The registration form is in an attachment below, or pick up a form at the Ricky Matter Center Tuesday and Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Forms are also at The Scoreboard (Formerly Sports Warehouse).

Riley Verb likes to swim - fast

He's qualified to compete in the Junior Olympics later this month

Riley Verb likes to swim – fast.

During a three-day swim event July 21-23 he will discover just how fast he can swim.

The Bluffton 12-year-old has qualified to compete in the Junior Olympics through his USA swim team at the Putnam County YMCA. The event is at Miami (Ohio) University. He will compete in three events: 50-, 100-, and 200-yard breaststroke against other 11- and 12-year-old boys.

Are you nervous? Riley just shrugs his shoulders. We take that to mean “maybe, or sort of.”

Bluffton and Grove tie for NWC Don Bachman Award

Award recognizes NWC school with highest level of consistency in sports competition

Bluffton and Columbus Grove tied for the Northwest Conference 2016-17 “Don Bachman Award of Excellence".  The tie puts both schools at the top of the conference standings for the third time each, according to Jim Raabe, NWC commissioner.

This award recognizes the school in the conference that exhibits the highest level of consistent excellence in conference-sponsored sports and scholastic bowl competition each school year.

Volleyball camp Monday and Tuesday

Bluffton volleyball camp, open to girls entering 4th to 8th grade takes place Monday and Tuesday, June 19-20, in the Bluffton High School gym, accoridng to Calista Altenburger, varsity coach.

Players are grouped based on gae and skill level. Seventh and eighth grader camp is from 9 a.m. to noon. Fourth to sixth grader camp is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
