Girls' soccer: BHS lose to always tough O-G in season opener

Bluffton High School girls' soccer season launched with a home meet on Aug. 25 against Ottawa-Glandorf and the visitors left with a 5-0 win.

Varsity game temperatures had cooled only slightly and the weather was still very sticky for soccer.

A handball in the box gave Ottawa-Glandorf a penalty kick, and they were able to get it past goalie Jadyn Barhorst.  One more goal made it 0-2 at the half. Barhorst returned for the second half, and stopped several more attempts by OG, but the final score was 0-5.

By Sam Brauen
Under direction of new head coach Jeff Richards, the Bluffton Pirate football team opens their season Friday night at Cory-Rawson.  Bluffton will be looking to continue the momentum of a 7-3 season in 2015 but must replace many lost senior starters to do so.

Head coach Jeff Richards was hired in January to replace Kyle Cutnaw who resigned after going 10-10 over two seasons at the helm of the program.  Richards graduated from Bluffton High in 2004 and played center on the football team under Dennis Lee.
