Bluffton University student travels around the world

Each Bluffton University student must fulfill a cross-cultural requirement before graduation. Most students fulfill this requirement by going on a cross-cultural experience while others complete the requirement by taking foreign language classes. Bluffton offers many three week cross-cultural experiences each spring however some students decide to further stretch themselves by spending a semester abroad.

University Spiritual Life Week focuses on "Extending family tree"

Bluffton University will hold its annual spring Spiritual Life Week (SLW), Feb. 7-11. The theme for the week is "Extend Your Family Tree."

Spiritual Life Week is a time, set aside for a week each semester, for the campus to focus on the Christian life. Students play a major role in planning activities that help strengthen growth and faithfulness in a relationship with God. The week includes guest speakers and special times of worship. SLW events are free and open to the public.

Global weekend heads our way

International Connection (ICon), a student organization at Bluffton University, will present its annual global weekend, Feb. 11-13. This year's theme for global weekend is "Many Faces, One Family," and will consist of various events and activities that explore the home countries and cultures of Bluffton international students. All activities are free, unless otherwise noted, and open to the public.

Students participate in day of service

On Jan. 18 Bluffton University students, faculty and staff gathered to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day by participating in the National Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

The Day of Service was recognized by Congress in 1994 as a way of honoring the work of Dr. King. This day allows Dr. King's message of service, social justice and non-violence to continue to be spread throughout communities. This was the first time that Bluffton University took part in the Day of Service.

George Lehman discusses Amish of Adams County, Indiana

As Bluffton University's Howard Raid professor of business, Dr. George Lehman strives to develop research projects that link his interests in entrepreneurship and innovation with case studies of people and business in real world locales.

"I take my role as the Bluffton University Howard Raid professor of business very seriously including my responsibility to develop and present research that can contribute to public understanding of business and its relationship to community life."

Bluffton University honors 39 faculty and staff for service

Bluffton University honored 39 members of its faculty and staff for their years of dedication and service at the annual New Year's Recognition Dinner on Jan. 24. Honorees were recognized for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 years at Bluffton.

In comments preceding the awarding of service recognitions, Dr. James M. Harder, Bluffton University president, paid tribute to the role of Bluffton's faculty and staff.
