Beavers men's golf preview for 2024-25

The Bluffton University men's golf team will have a different look when it hits the course in 2024-25. Gone are all-time greats Evan Kujawa (Toledo/Whitmer) and Hunter Jolliff (Elida) who have played an integral part in pushing Bluffton into the upper echelon of the Heartland Conference. The 299 for 18 holes and 609 for 36 holes at the 2023 Beaver Fall Invitational were 2nd all-time, while the 923 at the HCAC Championships shattered the 54-hole mark by 20 strokes!

Bluffton girls soccer defeats Anna

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team overcame a very early deficit to beat visiting Anna 2-1 in the home opener Thursday, August 22, at Steinmetz Field.

Jenera and Rawson area barns featured on Hancock Historical tour, Sept 7

Six locations in Rawson and Jenera

The Hancock Historical Museum will host its seventh Historic Barn Tour on September 7. The self-guided tour will showcase six historic barns dating from the 1860s to the 1930s in southern Hancock County paired with food, live music, kid’s  activities, demonstrations and fun for the entire family. 

Attendees will learn about the history of each barn, the farms they occupy and the  families who have owned them. Each barn on the tour displays impressive architecture, an  array of timber-framing techniques and styles that have served a variety of purposes.

The August 20 meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club featured a presentation by Dave Stratton, President and CEO of Greater Lima Region, Inc. (GLR) on what’s new in the world of regional planning and promotion. The public was invited to this program.

Telephone pole replacement with a twist

Crews replacing telephone/cable line poles on S. Jackson St. had to tackle one with a twist--of honeysuckle vine. The decades-old plant covered up a score of iron foot rungs, which had to be removed by hand and still smell strongly of creosote.

Pirate golfers drop dual

The Bluffton High School varsity boys golf team lost a dual match to visiting Blanchard Valley Conference foe Leipsic at the Bluffton Golf Club on August 21.
