First Mennonite holds nativity display Dec. 9-11

First Mennonite Church will host "Come to the Stable," an event featuring a display of Christmas nativity items on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 9-11. The event is free and open to the public.

The indoor walk-through display will feature nativity scenes, as well as two-dimensional artwork and Christmas tree ornaments featuring the Holy Family theme. All items have been loaned from members of the congregation, many from countries worldwide, some handmade by local and regional artists. Well over 250 items will be on display during the three-day event.

Sweet and spicy chicken chili

This makes a sweet, spicy recipe that is great for suppers on a cold night.

1 large can diced tomatoes
1 can peaches with syrup
1 can pears with syrup
1 large can kidney/chili beans, not drained
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1 stalk celery
1 medium onion
1 medium green pepper
2 c. chicken (or 1 pound hamburger or ground turkey)
(May use canned chicken)
1 T. allspice
1 - 2 t. pepper (to taste)
1 T. chili powder (to taste)
1 t. salt
Tabasco (to taste)

The entries for the first-everl Big Idea Contest must be postmarked by Nov. 30 and sent to Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs. This event is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in northwest Ohio who have innovative ideas and plan to pursue their own business.
