Bluffton's semi-annual hydrant flushing is scheduled to begin at the end of October, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator.
The fall flushing takes a little longer than the spring flushing due to the need to pump
down the hydrants after flushing to prevent damage from freezing temperatures.
Bluffton's leaf pick-up program will most likely begin the last week of October,
dependent on the weather.

According to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, "If the weather changes and the leaves start falling en masse, we may start picking up earlier on a part-time basis, alternating with mowing responsibilities. However, currently, while some trees are dropping their leaves, the majority are just beginning to change.
