Anabaptist martyrs and Africans enslaved in early America may not have much in common, but there is at least one similarity, two Hesston College faculty members stressed Jan. 14 at Bluffton University.
In a forum titled “Common Threads,” Hesston historian John Sharp emphasized that the two groups had a “shared experience of suffering,” which was endured “at the hand of legitimate authorities.”
The Bluffton University offense never got untracked at rival Defiance on Wednesday, Jan. 15, as the Yellow Jackets stumped the Beavers by a 55-42 count in front of a packed Weaner Center. Bluffton fell to 6-8 on the season and 2-5 in the Heartland Conference, while DC improved to 10-4 and 5-2 in the HCAC.

• Thursday, Feb. 6, from noon until 6 p.m. at First Mennonite in the Fellowship Hall, located at 101 S. Jackson St.
• Friday, Feb. 14, from 11:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Bluffton University in the Sommer Center – Reichenbach Room.
The annual Keeping Active program is beginning at BFR on Jan. 20 and ending Feb. 28, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.
She said, "Over the next six weeks, individuals and families are encouraged to learn more about healthy eating and add more activity to their schedules."
