Anyone who enters the lobby of Mennonite Memorial Home sees the miniature Christmas village.

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University will hold six noncredit certification classes beginning in January. Classes are free and open to the public, and all events begin at 6:30 p.m.

Classes range in length from one to six weeks, and each class focuses on general topics relating to the development of a business. The classes range from exploring self-employment to computer literacy.

 

The Bluffton University women’s basketball team suffered a tough defeat (95-62) at #11 Thomas More on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The Saints opened the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back. Thomas More led 50-32 at the break even though Bluffton knocked down 10-of-21 from the field (47.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes.

The Beavers came out in the second half and battled, but the home team proved to be too much as Thomas More won the game in convincing fashion, 95-62.

 

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, the Bluffton University Beavers gave themselves an early Chrsitmas present and came out with a 62-50 victory over the Indiana University-Kokomo Cougars at the Sommer Center.

The Bluffton men improved to 3-6 on the season with the win, while the Cougars fell to 5-7 on the season. The Beavers were led by senior Dustin Kinn (Alvada/New Riegel) who scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting and grabbed nine boards in the victory.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Life of Pi" (PG) and "Skyfall" (PG-13) will be shown at the theatre from December 21-23.

Show times are:

Life of Pi: 2D shows are every evening at 7:00 pm with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 pm.

Skyfall: Every evening at 9:30 pm with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 4:00 pm.

Premiering December 26 will be "Parental Guidence" (PG) for all shows. Shannon Theatre will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

 

National and international speakers and authors, Stuart and Jill Brisco will speak at St. John Mennonite’s Mission Festival set for March 1-3, 2013. 

Stuart has preached in over 100 countries and written more than 40 books. Jill has become a highly sought-after Bible teacher and has authored more than 40 books. 

Stuart will speak on the topic “Reaching Out” and Jill will speak on Saturday about “Choices That Create a Love That Lasts.”
