The Bluffton University volleyball team downed local rival Ohio Northern in four sets on Sept. 5. It marked Bluffton's third consecutive victory over the Polar Bears who dropped their first match of the season after starting 4-0. The Beavers improved to 3-2 following the hard-fought win in a humid Founders Hall. Attendance was estimated at 500.

The Little Riley has many faces. This is our favorite: in September when the sun's rays light up the trees along the bank. This scene looks north from Adams Bridge.

It's been a busy year for the Bluffton police department. While Bluffton's August police activity summary shows the department had 632 calls for service the cumulative calls for 2012 reached 3,599 by Aug. 31.

The year-to-date report is in the attachment at the bottom of this story.

Here's a photo from the 1961 Bluffton cenntennial. It is taken inside the Black county school, (still standing today). In 1961 it was at the corner of State Route 69 and State Route 103. Today 69 is 235.
The photo shows a "mock" class in session. The teacher is Mrs. Annie Pifer, who was once a teacher at the school.
