School may be out soon, but summer strings program is almost ready to begin.

According to Rachael Lewis, Bluffton schools string instructor, the summer program begins Tuesday, June 5. Sessions continue June 12, July 3, July 10 and July 17. (No sessions June 19 or June 26).

"The program is for students wishing to play their instrument during the summer," said Lewis. "This program is free and will be held in the strings or middle school band room. The students may come to as many of the classes as their summer schedule permits."

Lions clean-up crew

Working with ice cream just does not cut it for some people. Scott Weissling, for example, wanted to take a different direction after scooping ice cream for customers at Dietsch's Ice Cream Parlor in Findlay for over 25 years.

Therefore, Weissling decided to try teaching.

"I just got my intervention specialist license back in December," Weissling said. "Between then and now, I've been subbing for other teachers in Allen and Hancock County."

Sixteen members and two friends of the Bluffton Lions Club collected trash on May 19 along County Road 313 between County Road 15 and State Route 235.
