Richland Manor, 7400Swaney Road, will hold its annual pie contest. The event is Monday, April 30. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and judging at 2 p.m.

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 24.

Introduced as distinguished scholars in their respective academic areas were 34 seniors. In addition, Jenna Eshleman, a volleyball player from Landisville, Pa., and Meron Dibia of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, were honored for having the highest scholastic records among senior athletes and international students, respectively.

Katie Wineland, a Bluffton University junior from Gibsonburg has been named as one of the Fund for Theological Education's (FTE) roughly 40 Undergraduate Fellows for 2012-13.

Wineland, an Elmwood High School graduate who is majoring in biblical studies at Bluffton, will receive a $2,000 stipend that can be applied to educational expenses and/or an experience of exploring ministry.

FTE, an Atlanta-based nonprofit, also covers the costs for the Undergraduate Fellows to attend its annual conference, this year in Nashville from June 19-23.

The Lady Pirates picked up another conference win on Monday, as they traveled to Delphos to take on the Wildcats. The Pirates are now 4-2 in the NWC and 9-6 on the season.

Lead off batter Katie Palte got things started for the Pirates with a nice bunt and quickly rounded the bases to third on a Wildcat overthrow to first. Lauren Parkins was able to pick up the RBI as she was thrown out at first, putting the Pirates up 1-0.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "The Three Stooges" (PG) and "21 Jump Street" (R) will be showing at the theatre from April 27 - May 3.
