Jan Basinger was a Lima South High School graduate
Jan E. Basinger, 78, of Pandora died 10:22 p.m., March 17, 2016, at her daughter’s residence. Jan was born June 5, 1937, in Bluffton to the late Sidney and Velma Bucher Herr. On Dec. 18, 1960, she married Roger Basinger who preceded her in death on April 27, 2010.
Jan worked at Sager's Appliance, Ottawa, She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Chapter #52 and a graduate of Lima South High School. She was involved in community service and made lap throws for all Hilty Home residents.
Survivors include a daughter, Stacy (Bill Hawk) Shafer of Lima, a son, Scott (Michelle) Basinger of Blacklick, a grandson, Adam (Chelsea Szobody) Hofacker, two granddaughters, Abigail and EmilyBasinger, two great grandsons, Xavier and Matthew Hofacker, and four sisters, Joyce (Howard) Bowman of Lima, Jean (Brooks) May of Delphos, Johanne (Ernie) Coleson of Anderson, Ind., and Janelle (Lee) Hayes of Lima.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton.
