Judith Greavu's work accepted in midwest art show
Former Bluffton College art professor Judith Greavu had one of her art pieces curated into the exhibition, “100x100 | 100 Sculptors, 100 Sculptures: A Survey of Contemporary Sculpture from the Midwest” at The Ella Sharp Museum in Michigan.
The 100 Sculptors, 100 Sculptures show is the third installment of a 30-year project for curator Ken Thompson in which he undertook a comprehensive look at sculpture being made at this time in the Midwest. The premise for this exhibit was to seek out a diverse group of 100 sculptors that represented as many approaches to sculpture as possible.
Greavu taught at Bluffton and retired from Ohio Northern University where she was associate professor in the department of art & design from 1985–2005.
Her works have been shown in numerous venues around the country. She has presented from Michigan to Florida and throughout Ohio, including being selected for “Spineless Wonders: Invertebrates as Inspirations,” an exhibit celebrating the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of On the Origin of Species.
Locally, she constructed a drinking fountain for the Village of Bluffton, large sculpture commissions for Tiffin University and the Inniswood Botanical Gardens, and her Reef Installation was one of the works in the citywide Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize exhibition in 2010. In 2011, she was honored with a retrospective exhibit at ArtSpace/Lima.
Opening in 1965, The Ella Sharp Museum showcases work in six galleries of art and history including the Andrews Gallery of Wildlife Art, the Jackson History Gallery, and three galleries featuring traveling and "in house" exhibitions. The museum features a full slate of educational and entertaining programming such as lectures, school out-reach, field trips, tours, and gallery walks.
