BHS teacher Scott Hoff takes the chamber on a dive in the Florida Keys

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) breakfast meetings resumed on Sept. 14, with a presentation by Bluffton High School biology teacher Scott Hoff on the Ocean Focus class and field experience in the Florida Keys.

Hoff showed how students learn fundamental aspects of marine science as well as discover what they can do to improve the health of our oceans.

"Scott provided a detailed look at an inspiring and sometimes life-changing experience," said Paula Scott, chamber CEO. "Even though this program has been going on in our own backyard for many years, our members now have a better understanding of how our local school district is serving students."

BACC breakfast attendance averages some 50 members, including representatives from manufacturing, professional, education, retail, food, recreation, and service industries, as well as non-profit organizations and government entities. This attendance makes breakfasts a "one-stop shop" for networking in Bluffton.

The meetings include a full breakfast. There is no charge for members and guests, because member sponsors cover the expense.

Chamber breakfasts are held on the second Friday of the month and continue through June. The meetings take place from 7-8:30 a.m. on the third floor of Bluffton Town Hall. The next breakfast is Oct. 12.
