University holiday concert, tree lighting Dec. 2
Bluffton University will host the Holiday Collage Concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2, in Yoder Recital Hall followed by a new Christmas tradition at the Houshower House.
Become wrapped in the sounds of the season when Bluffton’s Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, University Chorale and Camerata Singers come together to celebrate Christmas.
Bluffton’s Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Andrew Liebermann, will perform two favorites “Christmas Time is Here” and “Jingle Bells,” while Concert Band will entertain with traditional music set for wind band. Conducted by Dr. Roy Couch, their pieces include “Holy Night, Silent Night,” a beautiful combination of two classics, and “Yuletide Tapestry,” a medley weaving together holiday favorites with an audience sing-along.
Under the direction of Dr. Bo Young Kang, University Chorale will perform “Angels from the Realms of Glory” and “Wexford Carol.” Camerata Singers will perform three selections “Carol of the Bells,” “The Very Best Time of Year” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.”
The Holiday Collage Concert will be followed by a new event on campus immediately following the concert. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the university will host a tree lighting ceremony at the Houshower House, Bluffton’s campus Welcome Center located at the corner of College Ave. and Spring St. The event will include caroling, hot chocolate and fellowship.
Both events are free and open to the public.
