Eric Reneker recipient of Scouting Silver Beaver Award
Eric Reneker, longtime volunteer in Bluffton Boy Scouts, was one of three persons to receive the Silver Beaver Award on Feb. 8. The award is the highest volunteer recognition that a Boy Scout Council can bestow.
Reneker is a member of Bluffton Troop 256 and a longtime Scout volunteer at many levels, and an avid outdoorsman.
Active in the lives of his children, volunteer is second nature to Eric, having served in activities like dance, tumbling, soccer, softball, swimming, coaching, refereeing, and helping with his daughter’s Girl Scout activities.
In Scouting, he has served as a Den Leader, Cubmaster, day camp leader, day camp range officer, and day camp program director. Eric is also an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow Vigil member.
The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is a council‐level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America.
Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service.
Boy Scouts of America, Black Swamp Area Council, conducted its council annual meeting and recognition luncheon on at the Tri Star Career Center in Celina.
