Richard “Rocket” Bassitt loved life on the water
Richard “Rocket” Bassitt, 70, of Milton, FL and formerly of Beaverdam, died June 27, 2022.
Rick was born July 20th 1951 to the late Loren “Bill” and Margaret “Peg” (McGuire) Bassitt. He then went on to marry Bonnie (White) DeCamp, who survives.
Rick grew up in Beaverdam and graduated from Bluffton High School in 1969.
Rick loved life on the water and always lived life to the fullest, chasing the sun wherever he went.
Survivors include a son Gunnery Sergeant Richard “Caleb” Bassitt of Pensacola, FL, two daughters Sara Bassitt of Chicago, IL and Carrie Bassitt of Bluffton. Step-son TJ (Courtney) DeCamp of Westerville. Two grandchildren, Adalida “Addy” Bassitt and Ethan DeCamp. Brother William (Nancy) Bassitt of Indian Lake two sisters Sanda Garmatter of Bluffton and Sally (Roger) Fruchey of Columbus Grove.
Richard was proceeded in death by brother Thomas “Skip” Bassitt, sister Susan Henline Bassitt and brother-in-law Leland Garmatter.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
