Dorothy Pauline (Sutter) Cherry worked for First National Bank
Dorothy Pauline (Sutter) Cherry, 95, of rural Pandora, Ohio left this earth May 1, 2024 at her home. Born February 5, 1929 in Genoa, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer and Lenora (Blodget) Sutter.
Dorothy married Richard D. Cherry February 19, 1949, he proceeded her in death 2006. She is survived by a sister Charlotte Heldman of Findlay. Dorothy and Richard had three children: Terry (Donna) Cherry of Mesquite, Texas, Kent (Rachel) Cherry of Rural Pandora, Ohio and Joyce (Arnold) Mason of Rural Columbus Grove, Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Preceding Dorothy in death her parents; sister Jane Crawford, brothers Robert and Wayne Sutter; daughter-in-law Barbara Cherry and twin granddaughters Jessica and Anastasia Cherry.
Mrs. Cherry was a graduate of Pandora High School 1947. A lifelong resident of the Pandora area. She was an active member of the New Creation Lutheran Church in Ottawa. She worked at the F.C. Russell Company in Pandora for 5 years and was employed at Pandora First National Bank for 23 years.
Since 2006 she volunteered at Bluffton Hospital until September 2023. From 1950 to 1996 she worked on the farm alongside her husband, Richard. Dorothy and Richard enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends. When their children were home, they took vacations to Florida, Kentucky, Yellowstone and California. Once the children moved out their travels continued outside the lower 48 to South Africa, Australia, Germany, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Israel, Switzerland and 4 trips to Ecuador.
Dorothy was a longtime professional Shuffleboard player at Pandora and Bluffton courts. She also served as past president of Pandora Shuffleboard Organization.
A private service for Dorothy will be in the New Creation Lutheran Church in Ottawa.
