Bluffton grew overnight. Main Street grew by four-tenths of a mile to the south as it now extends to Southgate Lanes. The full length of Bluffton from the south end of town to the north, via Main Street-Dixie Highway is exactly 2 miles.
Bluffton High School graduate Michael Blake will be inducted into the Apollo Career Center Hall of Fame during a 6 p.m. program Thursday, Feb. 2, at Apollo. He is one of two inductees this year.
The event is part of Apollo Career Center's celebration of National Career Technical Education month.
Another part of the program includes the presentation of the Charles M. Hankish, Jr. Student Citizen of the Year. The award goes to Paul Parthemore, Bath, an Apollo junior enrolled in the Commercial Foods/Hospitality program.
She's a Buckeye. Lydia Guagenti, Bluffton High School senior, signed a national letter of intent today to attend Ohio State University. There she will be a member of the women's track and field team.
She is only the fourth Bluffton High School girl to play athletics in a Big Ten program. Ann Stechschute attended Purdue, Caity Matter attended Ohio State and Carrie Fett attended Purdue.
In addition to completing in team sports, Megan Dunlap, BHS grad, was a cheerleader at Ohio State.
Concentus, a select community choir, will be performing a benefit choral concert on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall at Bluffton University and Sunday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Findlay First Presbyterian Church.
This choir, formed in the fall of 2003, will present a program of songs with the theme Al'elouya: Let The Whole World Sing. The first half of the program will include choruses from major works, often including a variation of the "Alleluia" text.
Plenty of all-session and single-session tickets will be available for the 2012 Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys and Girls State Basketball Tournaments, and public sales of tickets for both tournaments will begin soon through Ticketmaster or in person at The Ohio State University's Jerome Schottenstein Center, the site of both state tournaments that take place in March.
