In the eyes of Bluffton's police golf carts on the golf course are simply golf carts. Golf carts on village streets will soon be recognized as vehicles. That means golf cart drivers will abide by all state laws governing vehicles.

The laws include seat belt requirements on all golf carts. It includes car seats for youngsters. Council passed the first reading of the ordinance on July 11.

I understand you are going to be a sophomore this fall at Bluffton High School. What are some of the activities you participate in?

I'm in several music groups including jazz band, marching band, pep band, chamber choir, concert choir and show choir.

What instrument do you play in band?

Baritone, since fifth grade.

What are some of the band show planned for this fall?

Local artist Oscar Velasquez will offer a third drawing and painting course at Bluffton Public Library for youth and adults.

Youth classes (grade school through junior high) will meet at the library on Tuesdays for five weeks from 6-8 p.m., beginning July 19. Adult classes will meet at the library for five weeks on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., beginning July 21. No prior experience is necessary.

At 11a.m. radar continued to indicate a squall line extending from Grand Rapids, Mich., to Warsaw, Ind., moving east at 55 mph. This
squall line has been producing widespread wind gusts of 55-65 mph with isolated gusts over 70 mph. AEP meteorologists expect this squall line to weaken only slightly and turn southeast into central Ohio this afternoon.

Speaking of Bluffton, South Carolina, the Hoff family recently visited there. Here's a photo with Brigette, Sydney, Rebekah and Andrew.

The 1951 graduating class of Bluffton High School held its 60th anniversary reunion July 9, 2011, at the town hall. Thirteen of the 25-member class attended, along with seven non-member spouses. When graduated, this class was stated to be the smallest graduating class since 1913.

Following a noon dinner catered by Henry's of Ottawa, with cake and pies made by area class members, attendees indulged in a full afternoon of conversations.
