Members from the Bluffton Community will gather Thursday at 9:45 a.m. on the Corner of Main and Cherry Street to speak out against the Ohio Death Penalty.

Frank Spisak is scheduled to be killed by the State of Ohio at 10am that morning. Those at the vigil plan to pray for Spisak as well as the victims of his racially-motivated crime: Rev. Horace Rickerson, Cleveland State University student Brian Warford, and Timothy Sheehan.

If this isn't a hopeful sign of spring, what is? Bluffton University maintenance personnel finished removing snow from the Rosenberger tennis courts.

The Icon spotted this unique plate on Main Street, Bluffton. It belongs to Dave Retterer, mayor of Ada, and a faculty member at Ohio Northern University. Most Bluffton residents, however, know Dave's wife, Deb, a pharmacist at Greg's Pharmacy.

Shawn Combs

Shawn Combs, 43 of rural Bluffton died at 9:41 p.m., Feb. 14, 2011, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born Oct. 22, 1967, in Lima, Ohio to Bill Combs and Nedra Reed. On Dec. 8, 1990, he married Stacy Brewster and she survives.

The February Bluffton school board meeting has been rescheduled, according to Paula Parish, school treasurer. The new meeting date is 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, in the elementary media center.

Chris Driesbach, a Christian musician, will present a concert on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera.

Driesbach lives near New Orleans. His songs are original Christian music featuring guitar and keyboard and include a song about his personal experience with hurricane Katrina. He lost all of his musical equipment in the flood that followed but has been able to replace it, thanks to generous gifts from fellow members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Only a trace of snow in the past seven days is a relief while temperatures plunged like a bear stock market early in the week only to warm up by Monday. The minus 10 reading is cold, but the record low reading for our community is minus 17 set in 1975
