The three-day annual Lincoln Highway Buy-Way across America yard sale began in Ada on Thursday morning amid sunny skies. Here, Mike Streicher of Bluffton gets a map of the 17 Ada sales sites from Deb Curlis, Ada Chamber president. The tent along Main Street in the Railroad Park will be manned those three days by the Chamber and C.I.C. members, the local sponsoring organizations. In addition to handing out the maps, people visiting the tent can also find Ada Sesquicentennial books and yardsticks.

Area high school students are invited to a “Fallout” event from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at 4080 E. Hook-Waltz Road, Elida, according to Jeremy Basinger, Bluffton High School Campus Life director.

“The event includes food, orb ball, zombie hayride, airsoft, 150-foot slip and slide, outdoor movie, and much more,” said Basinger.

FROM THE ADA ICON - The 103rd annual Ada Farmers’ and Merchants’ Picnic takes place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 and 13, in the War Memorial Park.

Here’s this year’s schedule:

Friday, Aug. 12
• Party in the Back 40
Gates open 5 p.m. "Mustang Sally" on stage from 8 p.m. to midnight
• Picnic Pull, 7 p.m. - Gates open at 4 p.m. - Registration at 5:30 p.m.

Pleasant View Church of the Brethren, 4950 N. Thayer Road, will hold a chicken barbecue lawn social this week.

The event is 5:30-7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 4, and is open to the public.

         

The beast comes to Pandora in August. It’s a friendly beast.

The Riley Creek Singers present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” in four shows over the Friday-Sunday, Aug. 12 to 14 weekend.

According to Kevin Augsburger, director, shows are:
• 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12
• 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13
• 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13
• 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14

All performances are in the Pandora Gilboa School auditeria. Tickets are now on sale at the Riley Creek Pharmacy, Main Street, Pandora. All tickets are $15 each.

PrimeTimers will meet at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora.

 PrimeTimers is a non-denominational, community fellowship gathering for adults 55 and over hosted at St. John Mennonite Church in Pandora.  It is a ministry of St. John and the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

This event will feature the music of Phil Schey.

The meal will include: fried chicken, hash brown casserole, scalloped corn, coleslaw, rolls, banana sour cream cake.
