Two faculty members and two vice presidents are joining the Bluffton University community this academic year along with several new staff members and graduate assistant coaches in athletics.

New assistant professors for 2012-13 are Dr. Martina Cucchiara, in history, and Milagros Quiles, in Spanish. Meanwhile, Dr. Julie DeGraw, vice president for student life and dean of students, and Ron Headings, vice president for enrollment management and marketing, have come to campus as new members of President James Harder’s Cabinet.
Katherine Jo Wilson, 58, of Findlay died at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 27, 2012, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born March 18, 1954, in Lima to Robert F. and Betty Davenport Walters. Her mother survives in Bluffton. On Sept. 23, 1995 she married John D. Wilson and he survives.
She worked with her husband at Customer Service Transport, Findlay. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and decorating. She was a 1972 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School.
Merilyn J. Crabill, 94, of Arlington died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby, after a brief illness. She was born on June 5, 1918 to the late John and Goldie (Burns) Battles in Bluffton, OH. She married William "Ed" Crabill on May 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2009, after 63 years of marriage.
A memorial service for Peter G. Fast who died Aug. 9, 2012, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Fast was born on April 28, 1925, north of Chinook, Montana, but his family soon moved to Mt. Lake, Minnesota, where he grew up on the family farm. He was the youngest of nine children.

The fall BFR Sports and Fitness schedule of youth classes will begin the week of Sept. 10, according to Carole Enneking, director.
Children in kindergarten through grade 3 are welcome in the basketball
class (Thursdays 3:30-4:30 pm), Football basics (Tuesday 3:30-4:30 pm), Outdoor Games (Mondays 3:30-4:30 pm), and Tennis beginner class (Tuesday 3:15-4:15 pm).
Rookie Sports Fun (for youth ages 4, 5 or 6) begins Monday from 4:30-5 pm, and Tiny Tots (for youth ages 15 months to 4 years) is offered on Wednesday or Friday mornings at 10 am.
