Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce reminds Bluffton shoppers that chamber gift certificates make great Christmas gifts.

Chamber gift certificates are available from any Citizens National Bank teller. Certificates may be purchased in any dollar amount. The certificates are good for 12 months from the date of purchase.

From 1 to 6 p.m.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 1-6 p.m. 

To schedule your blood donation appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go to redcrossblood.org, sponsor code “fmenncbl.”

First Mennonite is located at 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton. Donors should enter by the Jackson Street entrance directly across from Bluffton Elementary School. An elevator is located at that entrance.

Hannah Yost, a junior, is heavily involved in music

Hannah Yost, a Bluffton High School junior, is the November BHS student of the month.

Hanna is in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, pep band, symphonic choir, chamber choir, show choir, Latin Cub, Math club and Drama club.

She attends St. John Mennonite Church where she is in the youth group and is also a member of multiple worship teams. She is also a member of the BHS National Honor Society and has received OMEA District III Honor for Jazz Band.

The annual Bluffton elementary Christmas concert

It's Bluffton annual sell-out concert.

Over a 12-month period there's nothing in Bluffton that quite compares to the Bluffton elementary Christmas concert.

Place all Kindergarteners through fifth graders in the east side bleachers of the high school gym. Fill the floor with seats. Open the doors about 60+ minutes prior to the concert and before you know it, it is standing room only.

How Alice Basinger handles it, we don't know. Does she get any sleep the night before?

Bluffton Public Library introduces its first Ugly Sweater Party on Wed., Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. at the library! Wear your tackiest holiday outfit and you may win a prize!

There will be plenty of activities for the whole family including board games, holiday karaoke, ugly crafts, a photo booth, and snacks.

A Dulcimer Christmas (presented by Rainbow Dulcimers and Dulcimer Gatherin’) is at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 at Bluffton Public Library. Come for an evening of festive holiday music!

The Bluffton High School football team was honored this week as they were named OHSFCA Academic All Ohio by the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.  “BHS was selected as one of the top 85 academic performing schools in all divisions combined,” per Bluffton head coach Jeff Richards.  The team will receive a certificate for this recognition.  

$500 in chamber gift certificates go to winners

Four Bluffton families can claim the best holiday lighting decorations in 2017.

The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce announced the following winners in this year's residential lighting competition,

• First place and a prize of $200 goes to Paul and Vicki Gesler of 347 Sycamore Court.

• Second place and a prize of $150 goes to Dave and Jenny Roby, 431 Cherry Street.

• Third place and a prize of $75 goes to Mark and Debbie Dulle of 423 Ethan Circle.

Bluffton Child Development Center, 325 County Line Road, received $3,375 in donations recently, according to Francine Donathan, director.
