This license plate belongs to a true golden retriever fan. It was spotted on a Chevy Traverse during a Boston Crusaders rehearsal at ONU stadium in June.
Japanese beetles are active in our area. These beetles are easily recognized by their relatively large size, about a half inch in length, and showy colors. The fore wings, also called hard-wing coverings, are bronze to coppery-brown in color. The head and the middle part of the body are a metallic green.
Japanese beetles are voracious leaf feeders. They have been known to feed on 350 plant species. Their favorite plants include rose, hollyhock, hibiscus, linden, maple, viburnum, grape, raspberry, apple, and cherry.

Bluffton Senior Citizen Center will be busy in August.
There’s everything from food tours, honor flight program and a visit from Bluffton Police Department’s K-9 officers, Kato, and his handler, Tyler Hochstetler. There’s also a history lecture on the Oil Boom.

Tour the Schumacher homestead
The Swiss Community Historial Society opens the Schumacher Homestead to the public on Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. Visitors to the Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Road, Bluffton, will learn what it was like to be an early Swiss settler in the Bluffton-Pandora area.
Loretta Mae Creeger Geiser, 80, died July 27, 2018, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Loretta was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Bluffton to the late Robert and Ruth (Boutwell) Nonnamaker. On May 8, 1960 she married Larry Creeger and he died Nov. 28, 2007. She later married Ron Geiser on Nov. 21, 2015 and he survives.
Again this year, the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association and the Bluffton Area Community Assistance Program will be provide free school supplies to children on the free and/or reduced lunch program within the Bluffton School District.
The distribution takes place on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. until noon at St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 West College Ave., Bluffton.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has published a white paper, “Finding the Right Care for Your Parent,” to assist family members in finding the best environment for an elderly parent or other relative. The paper is available at no charge on the MHCO website.
The Bluffton Ride to Remember committee would like to thank all the Bluffton businesses that provided promotional items for the cinch sacks each rider received.
The sacks were full of pens, pencils, sticky note pads, water, popcorn, chap sticks, eye glass cleaning cloths, a keychain bottle opener, highlighters, bookmarks, tea and loads of coupons with a value of more than $65 off purchases at businesses here in Bluffton. One rider said it was the best cinch sack he had ever received.
