Louise Farling taught home economics

Louise Irene (Soldner) Farling, 94, of Bluffton, Ohio entered into the arms of her Lord in her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Louise was born on December 31, 1927, in Souderton, PA, and was the daughter of the late Grover Thomas and Beulah Lucille (Geiger) Soldner.  Louise married Charles “Chuck” William Farling on July 27, 1950. They were married 58 years before Chuck passed away in 2008.

BHS girls soccer wins showdown at Grove, grabs NWC title

The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team clinched its second league title in three seasons with a convincing 4-1 road win at fellow league unbeaten Columbus Grove Tuesday night, October 4.

The decisive showdown victory upped the Pirate record to 12-2 overall, and they finished 6-0 in the NWC.

National Physical Therapy month, free appointments

During October--National Physical Therapy Month--Northwest Physical Therapy, Inc. will be offering free "Ask a Therapist" appointments to the public. These appointments will be available at all 4 outpatient locations, including Bluffton.
An "Ask a Therapist" appointment takes approx. 10-15 minutes and will be performed by a licensed clinician. These free appointments can help identify issues that may be causing unnecessary pain.

Galley book group reading Locust Lane by Stephen Amidon

The Bluffton Public Library's new Galley Book Group will meet in person on Wed., Oct. 19 at 12:00 to discuss the advanced reader (galley) version of Locust Lane by Stephen Amidon, slated for publication in January 2023.

This is a new discussion group that will be held as new galleys become available.

The group will receive the book in advance, read it and meet for a discussion. A feedback survey will be filled out by the library and sent to the publisher.

October 8 bird count at The Quarry Farm

PANDORA—October 8 is October Big Day, the first day of the international effort known as Global Bird Weekend. (There is also a May Big Day.)

Want to participate? You can join birders Deb Weston and David Smith at 9:00 a.m. at The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm. Hike to record the species that you see in the nature preserve.

The complete list will be submitted to ebird.org to join the global team and help set a new record for birding. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

Bluffton University senior Jeremy Locklear (Lincoln Park, Mich./Harry S. Truman) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance against Franklin on October 1.
