The Curling Iron staff buzzes university baseball players on Feb. 27

Bluffton University baseball players and coaches are purposely going bald on Thursday, Feb. 27, to support children with cancer.

Having already raised more than $6,100 for the Vs. Cancer Foundation—which helps fund children’s cancer hospitals and research of potential cancer cures—the Bluffton baseball Beavers will take their support a step further on Thursday, having their heads shaved in solidarity with young cancer victims. Joining them will be Dr. Darryl Nester, a Bluffton mathematics professor whose family, including a young niece, has been touched by the disease.

The mass shearing, courtesy of stylists from The Curling Iron in Bluffton, will begin at noon and continue for nearly an hour in The Commons in Marbeck Center. This is the third consecutive year that baseball team members have sacrificed their hair while raising money for the cancer cause.
