Jan. 17 reception for featured sculptor Roger Sugden
A reception with artist Roger Sugden will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17. Sugden’s exhibit titled “Shapeshifters” opened on Jan. 4 and will continue through Jan. 29. The exhibit is on display in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center.
The public is invited free of charge. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekly and 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Sugden describes the exhibit as “objects in motion.” The artist also states that these objects are created through inspiration from the mythos of existential life, of UFOs and of crop circles. In layman’s terms, Sugden uses ancient themes and presents them in a futuristic way by using modern materials.
Sugden is a sculptor living in Fort Wayne, Ind. Although the artist is located in a different state, this exhibit hits close to home for the Bluffton University community as Sugden is the brother to assistant professor of art, Philip Sugden.
