BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University baseball team took on Hanover College on Friday, April 29. The Panthers took the first game, piling up 14 runs on 16 hits, while Bluffton finished with four runs on 11 hits.
In the bottom of the second, senior Tommy Nobile (Reynoldsburg) got on with a single and stole second. He scurried home after a single from Tanner Hamilton (Centreville) and a big double off the bat of Blake Fox (Berne, Ind./South Adams), putting the Beavers on the board.
Hanover was able to string four runs together in the top of the fifth, and another two in the top of the sixth, making the score 8-1. The Beavers tried to rally in the bottom of the sixth, starting with a single from Luke Hickey (Toledo/Whitmer). He crossed the dish following a Hamilton double. Fox was able to reach second on a dropped fly ball, sending Hamilton home for another run, making the score 8-3.
The Panthers capitalized in the top of the ninth inning with a five-spot, putting the game out of reach at 14-4.
Fox went 3-of-4 with an RBI while Clayton Siders (Delaware/Worthington Christian) also notched three safeties. Hamilton finished 2-of-4 with an RBI.
