Taynor and Velasco-Urbina 1st Team All-HCAC
The Bluffton University men's soccer team capped off a record-setting 2022 campaign with two First Team All-Heartland Conference selections and one player named Honorable Mention All-HCAC. Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) and Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) are the first honorees named first team from Bluffton since 2009. It is just the third time since Bluffton joined the Heartland in 1999 that the Beavers have been accorded with multiple first team selections. Junior Elijah Zimmerman (Archbold) picked up his second consecutive Honorable Mention All-HCAC plaque.
The Bluffton University men's soccer team finished their 2022 season on Saturday, Oct. 29, with a heartbreaking 1-0 OT loss in the opening round of the HCAC tournament. The Beavers finished 7-8-3 and hosted an HCAC tournament match for the first time in school history thanks to a 5-4 mark which was a school record for HCAC victories. It was Bluffton's second HCAC tournament in school history, also their second in 13 months.
Freshman Alex Brown (Delaware/Buckeye Valley) was recognized on the HCAC All-Tournament Team for his work in Bluffton's quarter-final matchup with Manchester.
