Pirate boys soccer blanked by Big Green

The undefeated Ottoville boys soccer team defeated visiting the Bluffton High School team 3-0 in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon, September 2.
The Pirate boys dropped to 1-3-1 with the loss. Ottoville improved to 6-0-0 after the win.
Ottoville’s Landon Horstman netted the first goal in the 17th minute. The defensive contest game stayed 1-0 to intermission.
Preston Mansfield converted a penalty kick eight minutes into the second half to double the Big Green lead.
Luke Kaufman added a third goal in the 79th minute to provide the final margin of victory.
Bluffton got off four shots, but none were on goal. Ottoville was able to put seven of its 13 shots on goal.
Bluffton keepers Kyle Basil and Truett Diller made two saves apiece.
The Pirates won the junior varsity match 3-0.
Bluffton reserve goals were scored by Ollie Combs, Mekka Smith and Xavier Navarro.
The Pirate varsity is back in action Wednesday, September 6 at Van Buren at 5 p.m.
