Pirate volleyball dominates Mustangs; win streak at 9
By Cort Reynolds HUDL video highlights BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School volleyball team easily swept visiting local rival Allen East in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday evening.
The Pirates dominated the Mustangs in straight sets 25-11, 25-15, 25-7.
With their ninth consecutive victory the Pirate record improved to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the NWC this season.
AE dropped to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the NWC after the one-sided defeat.
Ayla Grandey led the Pirate hitting attack with 12 kills. Karlie Lora contributed nine kills. Lora added six digs and three aces.
Setter Gracie Yarnell doled out 28 assists and mustered six digs.
Avery Talavinia and Vanessa Cross led the team with seven digs apiece. Talavinia fired six aces.
Bluffton also swept the JV match 2-0.
The Pirates put their win streak on the line when they visit Ottawa Hills with Defiance Tinora Saturday, Sept. 14 in a non-league triangular match.
