Q: What's Jammin' all about?
A: We asked Charlie Saylor and here's his response:
We are scheduled for April and May and hopefully will continue beyond that. We meet for two hours on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at the library, so that makes the April jam next Thursday, the 17th. On June 7, 2014, Mayor Dennis Gallant will join the Friends of The Bluffton Public Library in a 5K Run/Walk for Literacy.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m.; the run/walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Bluffton Public Library. Maps will be available at the library, on the library website, www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org, and on social media after April 1.
Book discussions, jammin’ at the library, mobile labs and lots more is on the Bluffton Public Library April calendar, according to Jessica Hermiller, library administrator.
Here’s a preview of events planned in April:
On Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m., Paws to Read with Tango. Tango is a certified therapy dog who loves to help children read. Children may take turns reading some of their favorite stories to her.
Gardeners of Bluffton-Pandora Area will hold a program on "invasive plants," at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at the Bluffton Public Library.
The program titled "Bullies and Invasives," is free and open to the public. Mark Mohr, naturalist from Johnny Appleseed Parks, will discuss which plants are invasive and how to identify them. Mohr will also explain the best methods for removal and ways to avoid importing them to your landscape.
Icon viewers are invited to join a yarn circle with Kimberly Hansen of Etsy’s YarinCozy. The event is at 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Bluffton Public Library.
Beginning to advanced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Please bring your own material. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
