Tips on showing veggies and flowers Saturday program at Bluffton library

The Gardener’s of the Bluffton/Pandora Area present a program to educate the public on how to prepare and show your flowers, fruits and vegetables at fairs and horticulture shows. 

The program is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 27, at the Bluffton Public Library.

Club members will bring samples to be used as examples of good and bad entries, and the judge will also give advise on how to prep samples to receive better scores.  

If you could eat a book, what flavor would it be? Library accepting Edible Book entries

Bluffton Public Library's Edible Book contest registrations will be accepted until July 12, according to Cindi Chasse, library administrator.  

Entry categories include:
• preschool through grade 5,
• grade 6 through 12,
• adult and
• professional. 

Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. on July 25 and then guests will be invited to “dig in” and taste the entries. The contest is hosted in partnership with Bluffton University Musselman Library, and is free and open to the public.

Flower pounding workshop at Bluffton Public Library

Discover your flower power! Join instructor Lois Wetherill for a flower pounding class at the Bluffton Public Library.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on July 23, Lois will teach this technique that transfers the beautiful shapes and colors of fresh plants onto fabric using common household tools. The class is part of the library’s DIG into DIY summer program series.

Registration ends July 18; a $5 materials fee is due at signup. The library is located at 145 S. Main St., Bluffton.

Bluffton libraries to host first edible books contest July 25

 

Have you ever thought a book could look so appetizing that you would want to dig in and taste it?  Two libraries are partnering to tempt you!  Bluffton Public Library and Bluffton University Musselman Library will be hosting an Edible Books contest on July 25 to promote reading and creativity for all ages. 

This delicious, free contest is being held as part of the public library’s “Dig Into READING” finale and is open to library patrons, staff, faculty, students, business owners and the general community.

And we thought "edible books" were only for book worms

Bluffton Public Library and Bluffton University Musselman Library are partnering to promote reading and creativity by hosting an Edible Books Contest on July 25.  Finale activites will also include demos for adults and kids activities.  Community Markets is our main event sponsor.

Superhero Day at Bluffton Public Library June 15

Think you know all the superheroes or can generate your own slime? Come find out at Bluffton Public Library’s Superhero Day on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Activities for ages 12 to 18 include a trivia test in game show form, DIY slime, Hero sandwiches and a recent superhero movie, which is sure to please.  Come dressed as your own superhero if you dare!
