Two Bluffton University students are exploring possible future careers this summer with the help of $1,500 Discovery Grants awarded through the university.

Nnenna Onwukeme, a Bluffton junior majoring in business, is volunteering as a business and teacher's assistant at the new De Padua Learning Center in her home city of Jos, Nigeria. She is looking to learn the ins and outs of running a business, including start-up and daily management.

Vera Burkholder

Lifelong Bluffton resident Vera Burkholder is the June resident of the month at Richland Manor.

She graduated from Bluffton High School and studied to be a teacher at Bluffton College. After graduating she taught 19 years as a first grade teacher at Allen East. She is a lifelong member of the Bluffton Missionary Church.

St. John's United Church of Christ announces its summer Sunday hours, according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

Sunday School is at 9 a.m. and worship is at 10 a.m.

Bluffton Lions present the 45th Bluffton Festival of Wheels Cruise-In, Friday, June 15.

The event takes place in downtown Bluffton from 2 to 8 p.m. Jeff Houston, 1950s DJ will play music from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Flag City Cloggers will perform from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and the Night Jazz Swing Band will perform on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn from 6 to 8 p.m.

Several Bluffton downtown businesses will hold sidewalk sales all afternoon.
