Jerry Lynn Bassett, 59, passed away May 18, 2022, at his residence. Jerry was born October 27, 1962 in Lima to the late Robert and Ruth (Thomas) Bassett.  

Jerry graduated from Bath High School and worked at Elevator Services in Beaverdam. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan.  Jerry was a jack-of-all trades especially when he was working with metal. He was known for his stubbornness, his willingness to help anyone and his "Jerry-isms."  Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. 

Bluffton Soccer Club shared the following announcement:

Ohio North is hosting a new referee course with a virtual training session from 7-10:00 p.m. on June 3. Participants need to attend this online session and are expected to be engaged and actively involved.

All other aspects of the training are self-paced. These portions must be completed by June 10.

All new referees must be 13 years old to make an account.

A suggestion is before Bluffton council to paint a thin blue line on Main Street, and/or blue American flags hung there in relation to Dominic Francis’ memory.

Bluffton University has announced the following graduates from the greater Bluffton area including Beaverdam, Jenera and Pandora.

Brittany Alvarado of Beaverdam, Ohio, earned a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology and audiology from Bluffton University.

Zachary Basinger of Bluffton, Ohio, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bluffton University.

Bluffton's Girl Scouts have a new supply of cookies for sale. The scouts will be in front of Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Company, 117 S. Main, on Saturday, May 21 beginning at 8:45 a.m. and continuing until they run out.

They have a limited supply of Adventurefuls, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Lemon Ups, Thin Mints, Trefoils, Samoas and S’mores.

The May member meeting of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce introduced guests to a new program for small businesses that provides access to valuable counseling and recovery services. Jennifer Mills, EAP Business Navigator, made a presentation on the opportunity.
