Hello all. In May I wrote a tid bit about the Model and Talent Expo that I was selected to attend in Dallas Texas. Wow! what a busy, chaotic, anxious and exciting event. Unfortunitaly, i did not sign a contract

100 Years of Boy Scouting!!! Wow!!! Troop 256 from Bluffton has been a Scout Troop since 1939 and Pack 256 started in 1954. Boy Scout Troop 256 is selling T-Shirts Celebrating 100 Years of Scouting. For Information contact Dr. Darrell Groman or any Boy scout in Bluffton.

You may also stop by the Sports Warehouse 111 N. Main Street to purchase these shirts, all proceeds go to the scouts. Come on all past Troop 256 Boy Scouts and Pack 256 Scouts, help support this worthy fund raiser!

Letter: Please don't mow roadside grasses

Dear Richland Township,

Do you realize that our roadsides and hedgerows of the past allowed for abundant migration for birds and butterflies?

These small creatures cannot get far without native grasses and foods such as berries, cattails, wildflowers and grasses that once grew along roadsides. Agribusiness chemical farming techniques have eliminated our traditional hedge rows to make large fields more appropriate for their huge machines to harvest and plow monocrops. And we mow our country roadsides.

Letter: What do do with those plastic Suter's buckets

Ever wonder what to do with those plastic buckets from Suter's Strawberries?

Here are some ideas:

1. soak stained clothes overnight

2. collect waste water when you're brushing your teeth/washing up and pour it into the toilet for a recycled top-flush (it works!)

3. gather veggie scraps by your sink for the compost pile

4. make a car kit for your kids with coloring books, games and crayons for your summer vacation

5. use it to keep your glue gun and all your extra glue in one place

Letter: Impressed with downtown planters

When I visited Bluffton recently, I was impressed with all of the beautiful planters along Main Street from Stratton's Greenhouse. What a lovely way to add to the charm and beauty of the community.

Letter: About that foot X-ray machine

I didn't know the X-ray machine was possibly still in the old Walter Gratz shoe store (my friends and I called him Walter Goose because he sold Red Goose shoes), but I remember stepping into it when my parents would take me in to get shoes at the store.

Seeing my foot bones, which were so interesting!, was quite enlightening. Perhaps it led to my daughter's career choice as an anatomist.
