Understanding health care legislation May 14 chamber topic

Bluffton chamber members will hear what the new health care legislation means to individuals and business owners during the 7:30 a.m., Friday, May 14, chamber breakfast in the third floor of the town hall.

Patrick Paule of Savage & Associates, Perrysburg, is the speaker. He specializes in employee benefits for companies and individuals. The focus of his practice is with group benefits such as health, dental, and disability insurance. Other areas include buy-sell agreements, long term care insurance, key employee insurance, and worksite marketing.

Elementary students celebrate SMART week this month

Bluffton elementary students will have a special academic emphasis the week of May 17, called S.M.A.R.T. Week. (Social studies, Math, Arts and fitness, Reading and Technology and science.

Each day of the week will include a special activity. One of the days includes a reading marathon. On that day students may log on minutes for the Scholatic world record.

On Technology and Science Day students will present scientific experiments in their classrooms.

Maple Crest has busy month planned

May is a business month at Maple Crest. Here are some of the activities planned:
May 3 - 7 p.m., Scrap Artist Quilters in the Patio Room, Betty Fiser will talk on "What judges look for in judging a quilt show."
May 4 - Noon, Primetimers at St. John Mennonite Church.
May 5 - 6:15 p.m., "One in a Number," Bluffton's women's choir, led by Wendy Chappell-Dick, performs.
May 7 - 2:30 p.m., May birthday party.
May 10 - 6 p.m., Senior Citizens Center dinner meeting, Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.

Bluffton's farmers' market opens for the season on Saturday A.M.

Can~Ac^a'not^a"ct you just taste the strawberries, the jams, the rolls, and smell the flowers? The eighth season of Bluffton~Ac^a'not^a"cs popular farmer~Ac^a'not^a"cs market prepares for opening day, Saturday, May 1, according to Peter Previte, unofficial chair of this favorite Bluffton pastime.

This year~Ac^a'not^a"cs market will take place in its familiar location ~Ac^a'not^aEURoe the parking lot between Citizens National Bank and the post office. The market opens at 8:30 a.m. and runs until noon, no matter the weather conditions, from May 1 to the final Saturday in October.
